East County Kitchen and Family Room Addition
The owners were interested in a new Craftsman style kitchen with an increased work area and storage, as well as built-in cabinetry for pantry space and a desk and computer area for their children. All had to be accomplished within the same interior space by reorienting the existing layout. They also wanted to better utilize the area housing multiple windows which provide stunning mountain views from the space.
Design Solutions:The floor plan was re-designed to allow for a more efficient working space. The sink area was moved in front of the windows so that overall kitchen area was enlarged and the mountain views could be appreciated while prepping food or cleaning up. A custom built-in dining nook with the same Craftsman characteristics of the kitchen was also added which provides a great place for informal family dining but which also provides some of the added storage that the family requested. The final product has integrated the kitchen, dining, and family room for an exceptionally unified space for the family to spend quality time.
